Hello,
Could anyone find any information please on Daniel Hamilton Shields; this is all I know of him. In August 1945 (aged between c 25-35?) he was serving as a private in the 13th Holding Battalion, Royal East Kent Regiment (The Buffs) in Herne Bay. He was on the permanent staff of the Regiment but I believe he left to go back to Civvy Street within a year working in Blackpool. Any dates or info would be much appreciated. I assume he was a British national but have been unable to find any trace of him in B, M & D lists etc.

Did you try googling the name. It brings up a book "Handsome Brute. The true story of a lady killer"

Daniel Hamilton Shields evidently had an affair with the victim Margery Gardner nee Wheat.
