Could someone have a look at the FMP version of this census for comparison only.

I am certain that the ancestry version is a combination of 2 separate households.
Have done a quick search on SP for the 1901 census and these names don't match to a single household in Kelvin.

As far as I know, the Mcdonalds and Kerr are not connected yet Margaret Kerr age 27 is entered on this as a daughter?? Daughter of who?
Parents should be: William and Elizabeth Kerr

Thank you very much Dea.
I will obtain the 1901 census from SP now to see what the story is.
All the Kerr children are present and correct, yet neither transcript shows the parents.
Nor are they connected in any way to those McDonalds!

Update:
Have located the parents who are residing elsewhere at 1901.

Also
Thank you Catherine... you are quite correct!

Catherine

Catherine Report 17 Jan 2014 17:47

As the couple married in Old Monkland, this could be baptism for Elizabeth:-

Elizabeth Waddel
Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950
birth: 2 February 1844
christening: 25 February 1844 , OLD MONKLAND, LANARK, SCOTLAND
residence: 1844 Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland
father: John Waddel
mother: Janet Patterson

.........which, if correct, could help find the parents in 1901?

Catherine

Catherine Report 17 Jan 2014 17:48

Ooops, just noticed you have already found parents. Never mind. :-)

Don't worry Catherine
I am actually working downwards on this family line
I have all the ancestry and marriages ( this Elizabeth Waddell is not the one b 1844)

I found the Kerr/Waddell marriage recently, which confirms Elizabeth's parents, and was following them on census returns until I hit the snag at 1901.
Sorted now
Thanks
