Thomas remarried in 1908 so the death in 1907 must be Emma, its the only one I can find that matches.

Hi Jan,
Thank you but not sure if that's the right one as the Emma I'm looking for was the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Lane born 1853 Nottingham, married Thomas Charles Millington at St Marys Nottingham on 9 Dec 1875, but will keep it in mind just in case.

I've got rellies from Fraserburgh & Peterhead - two fishing ports - so I've seen quite a few censuses where the head of the household is missing - (presumably at sea) and the wife fills the census out claiming her relationship to head as wife, not head as the census planners would have wished. I've noticed that in these cases ancestry (and FS) get confused about who's in the h/h. I suspect their algorithm for determining the h/h boundaries is to assume a h/h begins with the head, and continues until another head is hit (or the book ends).
If we look at the image for the census Jan posted, we see Wm & Mary are in one h/h at 30 RUSHWORTH AVENUE, whilst ours is for # 28, specifically:
1901 England Census Transcription Street:28 RUSHWORTH AVENUE Parish:WEST BRIDGFORD Town:WEST BRIDGFORD City:- County:Nottinghamshire Country:ENGLAND Ecclesiastical District:WEST BRIDGFORD ST GILES Municipal Ward:- Parliamentary Borough:RUSHCLIFFE Registration District:BASFORD Registration Sub-District: Carlton Enumeration District:8 Archive Reference:RG13 Piece Number:3161 Folio:54 Page:44
EMMA A L MILLINGTON 1857 44 CARLTON DAUGHTER M Lodging House Keeper MARY A WITCHURCH 1823 78 NOTTM AUNT M Living on own means FLORENCE MILLINGTON 1885 16 NOTTM NIECE S Milliner
Clearly, Emma has gotten muddled abt the relationships - I think they should have been Head, Aunt, Daur. I don't know how she's an aunt - my guess is she's a sis of her pa-in-law. I don't know, but I did find:
Marriages Dec 1845 (>99%) Boley Alice Nottingham 15 1147 GEE Henry Nottingham 15 1147 >>>> Millington Mary Anne Nottingham 15 1147 RICHMOND Ann Nottingham 15 1147 SMITH James Nottingham 15 1147 >>>> WHITCHURCH Robert Nottingham 15 1147 WHITLA James Nottingham 15 1147
I've no idea who wed whom, nor if that Mary is anything to do with your mob.
You'll probly have to try and trace them via: https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND

Hi mgnv,
I have just got back from the Library where I have looked on the findmypast site to look at the census and yes you are right it is 2 households and the Emma should have been head of house, she was in fact Florence's aunt and the sister of Thomas Charles Millington she was christened Emma Ann Laxton Millington in 1856. So i'st the right Florence.
I also found Florence's mother Emma Millington on the 1901 down as Mellington living at 6 Fleet Place, Nottingham down as married but on her own, piece 3169, Folio 174, pg 28.
As I said in a earlier post she was Emma Lane and it's the Lane family that I'm doing so that's the Millington's sorted now.
Thank you for your help.
Wendy :-D :-D :-D
Edit: looks like Thomas & Emma had spilt up as he's on his own too on the 1901 census.

FS transcribe it as Saxon, but it's easy to misread an L as an S in some hands.
Emma Ann Saxon Millington England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 christening: 21 January 1856 GEDLING,NOTTINGHAM,ENGLAND father: Thomas Millington mother: Emma https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NGX8-1FS
Harry Millington England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 christening: 27 August 1858 GEDLING,NOTTINGHAM,ENGLAND father: Thomas Millington mother: Emma https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NGXD-6QD
I thought that Emma was Emma Millington MS Lane. I should have guessed Thos C had a sis Emma as both were named after their parents. So niece was right for Florrie.
