	Thank you Syliva, Dea and Yvonne - I do have access to ancsetry but like to come on and get advice when I need it. This is a tricky one due to the common name. Hmmm, I SUSPECT the 1799 marriage between James Woods and Mary Robinson is the correct one, as my ancestor Samuel Woods was baptised in Farnworth near Prescot not long after in 1803. I am a little lost as to where to go from here really. Please don't post any census etc for Samuel as I already have a thread for him. And there are no clues as to his parentage etc. Thanks x

	I do not seriously think this guy is yours ................ but he does show up on one of the family trees on ancestry, and it is interesting James Woods Birth 1781 in Culcheth, Lancashire Death spouse Mary Woods Birth 1781 in Culcheth, Lancashire, England Death children Betty Woods 1810 – 1867 Rachel Woods 1811 – Mary Woods 1819 – Prudence Woods 1821 – Sarah Woods 1825 – Isaac Woods 1830 – who knows how accurate this tree is!!!!! but, at least, it is probably one James and Mary birthplace and birth date to remove from your calculations!

	none showing as living in Prescot ........ but this does not mean she could not have moved.

	He was married to a woman named Mary but not sure when she died ... he may have remarried? His son was a waterman however, so I assume he would be also? Prescot was the registration district for a large area but Prescot itself is not particularly big, so he may have lived elsewhere. Do you know who he was married to, that might help find him in the 1841 census.

	None of the birthdates above match your James ( 1767) even taking into account the 5 year rounding down of ages in 1841

	He may not have been in Prescot in 1841. His death certificate would give you some info to go on.

	Sorry, I am an idiot at times ... the length of time being open to discussion. I have lost the link but was looking for the census return for a James Woods buried in Precot on 20th April 1843. He was aged 76. Looking for occupation and family mainly. Cheers, Peter
