Does anyone please have access to the outgoing passenger lists to Canada and could help me.

Free access to the 1921 Canada census ( thank you MGNV)

Shows a William James birth year 1886 England
Living in Assiniboia Saskatchuan
.
OCC farming

Immigration year 1911

William John James dob 1886 Millom Cumberland was living in Swarthmooron the 1901 census with his mother Hannah James dob 1865 Ulverston Lancashire.

The 1911 census shows Hannah James now married as Hannah Howard
dob 1867 living in Fox St Swarthmoor Lancashire , William is not there.

William married in 1953 and died in 1971, and according to letters from his wife lived in Carnduff Canada.

I am hoping the ships list may give more details ie next of kin or address in England.
Williams father had died in 1887.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Thank you
Maurice.

Thank you for your replies Gins and Prickly

I recolect somewhere in my notes the address Thornton Road Thornsby, i will have to check to see what it says.

It is most appreciated

Best wishes
Maurice.

Wrong William i am afraid for the Thornton road address, it was another relative also caled William John James married to a Minnie tranter in Ontario.

The William who departed in 1907 could be him allthough the 1921 census said immigration year 1911.

Perhaps he got his years mixed him.

Thank you both though for you help.

Best wishes
Maurice.

I think the record that PP posted, says the man is from Warwick

Who did he marry and is that year correct, rather late in life for a first marriage?

Hi Gins,

I have letters from Williams wife dated 1971 the year of willaims death.

She said her name was Margaret Ennis and born in 1904 in Northern Ireland.

They were married October 1953 at a friends hose in Carnduff

I have no other information for Margaret Ennis other than a relative said Margaret had visited England and visited Williams family in Swarthmoor.

It is old to be married but have no doubt to the authenticity of the letters.

Thank
Best wishes
Maurice.

Thank you Gins, it does appear to be Margaret. Her last letter said she was not herself in good health in 1971 and she would sorely miss Bill

Quaint writing.

Theat death of Margaert James is correct Gins.

I have found both William and Margaret James deaths recorded on the Saskatchuan cemetries project on Rootsweb.
It also confirms both dobs.

Thank you again i would not have looked otherwise.

Thank you
Best wishes
Maurice.
