Thanks Shirley, what was confusing me was in the 1881 census they had a son John W, b-1877. I take it he must have died and they named their next son after him in 1886

Is it possible for someone to look up John Close in the 1891 census
b-1858 Yorkshire, his wife should be Emily Close b-1858
