my martha is the one married to joseph southall she was born in kingswinford in 1865 she died in 1945 age 80 in 1911 they lived in princes end victoria st their son joseph died as a child but he is on the 1911 census don't know when joe snr died she moved to high st princes end and owned a fish and chip shop don't think joe was alive by then. as for being a servant I just don't know I found one in ettinshall with someone name hughes and there was a hughes connection to the family |

I'm not sure rose I know people ravelled a long way for employment but never heard any talk about her going that far away, was she there in 1881? |

Just looking at the 1911 census, there are two possibles so am not sure which one is yours? both have sons called Joseph so without knowing who you are working back from it might be either? |

I wouldn't discount the 1881 census found by Ann, servants often went to far distant counties with their employers, the only likely Martha Baker i can find in 1891 is also a servant, but in Yorkshire |

can anyone have a look for martha she was born 1865 in kingswinford staffs have the family on the 1871 census mother ann father james she married joseph southall in 1892 and next see her on 1901 but where was she in 81&91 there was talk that she was in service at summerhill hse in kingswinford but don't know if this is true. |
