On the 1911 Census George Harbage age 49 a brass worker is at home ( 99 Ruston St, Ladywood, Birmingham, Warks ) with wife Jane and family. By 1920 Jane is living on her own bringing up the kids. She never talks about him, even to the children. What became of George????? Shirley

My understanding is that wife Jane never talked about him ever again. The children Wilfred , Leonard etc did not ever see him ever again or knew what happened to him. George was born Oldswinford in abt 1863 ( cannot find his birth ). He is also not on the 1871 Census and I cannot find his death. Beginning to think he emigrated! Shirley

Hi, yes I looked at the war dead. The gentleman that died in Iran does not have an age listed, but George would have to have been about 54 yrs by 1917. Jane Harbage did not mention him again..............not the way to treat a war hero. thanks Shirley

Surely he'd be too old to be a casualty in WW1?

Hi, the needle maker yes. Could be him he worked with brass according to the 1911 Census. Of course he could have been a bigamist and had two families!!!! Afraid George may remain a mystery. Thanks Shirley
