I am trying to link my husbands Slater family to Tanner family. On the 1841 census John and Harriet Slater have in their household John Frederick Tanner age 4 and Harriet Tanner age 2 . living Saddleworth. On the 1851 census I have John and Sarah Tanner with their children John F, Jane H, Thomas H, and James W. living Friezland, Saddleworth. I sent for the birth certificates for James and Jane H and it gives the mother as Sarah Tanner maiden name Slater. I feel this does make a connection but I am not sure whose daughter Sarah was. Can anyone help please. |

Hi Thanks for your help. My John Slater is John Slater 1793 my husbands gt gt grandfather and it is with him and his wife Harriet that Frederick and Harriet and Harriet Tanner are with on the 1841 census, that is why I feel Sarah is connected to him some way but I have as yet not been able to make that connection. |

Looking at the dates it could be his and Harriet's daughter who had married and left home in 1836. That is my problem I cannot find a birth which fits. but can think of no other reason why the children should be with him. |
