Does anyone have any details of HUTTONS in Peterhead before 1800.

WE have traced our ancestors back to a Thomas Hutton shipbuilder and carpenter who married a Margaret Ogston in Peterhead 18/02/1816.
Thomas died 12/03/1844 in Peterhead.

Gravestone at Peterhead reads...
"Thomas Hutton Boatbuilder died 12th March 1844 aged 68.
Wife Margaret Ogston died 28th Sept. 1868 aged 75.
+ Thomas Hutton HM Customs died 22nd Sept. 1887 aged 70.
+ Wife Jane Smith died 26th June 1881 aged 67.
+ Thomas Hutton died 14th May 1915 aged 73.
+ Wife Isabella Strachan died 3rd Dec. 1930 aged 86."

We cannot find any more details before this and suspect Thomas came to Peterhead and all Huttons from Peterhead descended from him.

Thank You Maddie,

It is probable that you have found brothers of Thomas...as he was born around the same time..I came to this conclusion...see my note ...

"Cannot find birth nor parents details....
However 1841 Census states Thomas Hutton born in County...i.e. Aberdeenshire somewhere....
Also there was a George Hutton born 1776 and a James Hutton born in 1772 in Peterhead and father was a James Hutton....so Huttons still in Peterhead 1750 or earlier..."

WE now suspect there was a James Hutton whose children included...
James Hutton b.1772
George Hutton b. 1776
Our Thomas Hutton b. 1775

BUT no evidence of this unfortunately.

Thank you for your efforts.

The names James + George + Thomas Hutton appear down the ages (Descendants).....

There would have been very few Huttons in Peterhead 18thC....Probably only clues would be church records and grave records.

I admit it gets very difficult when one tries to research further back.
