You must take notice of the fact that marriages in England/Wales had to be registered.....no point in looking for churches.

Plus, for RC marriages, the registrar or his assistant had to be in attendance

If the event isn't recorded on the GRO index, It didn't happen............................

Look in Ireland...............

thanks, peter kane (petri cain) ire m mary wallace (wallis) ire from birth cert of james 1859 berwick and peter 1865 north shields
peter 1834, sister catherine cain 1842 (age21) m john kelly at whittingham 1863, catherine from census 1911 from rossmore leitrim (longford?) in backworth
trying to find where peter originated and married, have a block at present
some records indicate belford, looking for possible rc chapels where a marraige could have accured, if at all. note wrong birth date for mary wallace from death cert by 10yrs+ 1832

How do you know that Mary's maiden name was Wallace (or variant thereof)?

On your other thread, you were looking for the sons' births...............and none had been registered

sorry no cert. only census record of a birth in 1855, as sister married in area 1863 i am looking for clues to a rc marraige in area about 1854 for peter kane/mary wallace both from ireland, have death certs of peter and mary only

If you get the marriage certificate it will give you church details

There might be a parish record online but you would need to post the names of the couple
