McLean Family from Loftus from 1780's onwards

Thanks for the advice. I have tried the other route with limited success and found on another site that message boards sometimes bring success--so giving it a go!

It's only a slim chance that anybody doing this research will see this. You would do best to see if anybody has the family in their tree. If they do, you can message the tree-owner directly.

My family can be traced back to Kenneth Mclean born 1752 probably in Scotland and Jane Wilkinson born 1757 in Yorkshire. They married in Loftus or Lofthouse as it was then known in North Yorkshire. I would be interested if anyone else has a McLean family tree starting around that time and then spreading throughout the North East and further South. There were strong links to the Earl of Zetland and the local Alum mine and later to the Earls land holdings in Scotland.
