Thanks for your help, it looks like the servant girl with the same surname came from an unrelated family.

That's not the one, though, their eldest child (daughter) was born in 1864 and the servant Eliz was born in 1857.

That one's a possibility though, Ann. Was York in the West Riding?

Looked up the 1881 census in Familysearch for this family as it was missing from my records. (I do have some later census records for them).
The family were living near Newcastle upon Tyne, but had been born in different locations in the north of England

Parents
William Strangeways age 41
Emma age 41
Children
Anne age 17
Eliz A age 15
Alice age 11
Margt A age 9
Bert P age 7
Agnes C age 4
Ernest G age 3
Leo Ralph age 2

and then a lady named Eliz Strangeways born in W Riding of Yorks who is described as a servant age 24, ie born in 1857.

I have no idea who this lady is, she is not the sister or daughter of anyone in my tree. Nor can I find a birth for her in freeBMD. Nor can I find a marriage.

There were other unrelated families with the same name spelt differently in Yorkshire, but I would have thought it a bit unlikely that a girl of the same name would be employed.

Does anyone have any other ideas for who this lady might be, please?
