Peter Report 15 Nov 2013 21:53

Hi there, my ggg uncle Robert Woods was born in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham on 10 July 1857. His parents were also Robert Woods (born c. 1830 in Ireland, died 1909 in Chester le Street), and Rebecca Little (born c. 1830 in Ireland and died in 1866 in Stockton-on-Tees).

I have Robert sernior as a widow in 1871 with his son John (my gg granddad) and daughter Mary Ann Woods (born 8 March 1855 in Stockton). Robert and another brother James (born 23 December 1858 in Middlesbrough) are in the Sunderland Workhouse in 1871.

After 1871, I see no other sign of Mary Ann, James or Robert and I would like to try and find out what happened to them. Can anyone help? I have looked on Free BMD and familysearch but nothing is standing out and I wonder if someone else could take a second look please.

In later census returns, Robert senior is alone without any family.

Thank you,

Peter

Another other ideas?

And any chance I could get a look-up for a marriage for Robert Woods and Rebecca Little in Ireland - no idea where though!

Hi Peter

You have other threads about the same people and it's getting confusing to follow as information is spread across too many threads

If you stick to one thread about these people it helps everyone to follow

:-)

I assume this is the 1871 for James and Robert which you mention, Peter?

There are also a Margaret Wood (c1864) and another girl, possibly Sarah Wood (c1865), both born Stockton.

James & Robert are listed as orphans, Margaret & Sarah as inmates.

Thank you Gins, yeah, sorry about that - I did try to search for the threads, but they wouldn't come up so I assumed they had been deleted. If you can forward them here that would be great.

And thank you Dea, but I already have that information but thank you.

And ArgyllGran, thank you also - I had seen this and contracted the Register Office but they said the parents of the two girls were not Robert and Rebecca.

Hmmmm anything else? It is a difficult one!

Peter,

For future reference,

All you need to do is to go to Advanced Search,
Specify Woods for keyword,
Peter for author,
and search for all terms,
using the Find All Ancestors for the boards,

You will get about 15 hits, which does seem like rather a lot to misplace.

Or you can just look in 'My threads'?

Peter

Peter Report 17 Nov 2013 16:16

Yeah I did do that Patchem and it didn't bring them up strangely.

Peter

Peter Report 17 Nov 2013 16:18

Just did exactly that and nothing came up ... hmmmmm?!

And not all of those threads will be for me, as I am not the only Peter on these threads.
