Thanks to all who have answered my message especially Prickly holly as without her giving me the know how as to answer your messages you would still have no reply. I don't use Genes very much first time I have been on since November most of my work on Ancestry.,, I dont know who George of Westbury is but yes we did know all that and we don't know why for sure ,- but put 2&2 together and thought he could have been under age, as roughly.... no don't know how long as doing this off top of my head, obviously before he went to Africa and india...But he wrote a declaration stating he lied about his name not saying why. But couldnt be important as he stayed untill 1902.... For All the information that has been posted a big thank you although I have this Imformation thank you for finding time to reply.. Still trying to find him after 1906 Thinking he might have returned to the Army as we can't find a death for him, yes did say in one of the reply's 1911 census when Sarah was working in Tooting Workhouse that she was a widow But no death cert. to be found... He was my Great Grandfather...

Hi Keelie

With the help of George of Westbury.....it is interesting to read that Thomas originally stated on his attestation papers in 1889 that his name was Thomas Ward!

I will PM Keelie to advise her on how to return to this thread.

Prickles.

Hi.
Trying to find more Info. on Thomas Manning B. 1871 on the 11th May in Fulham at Rectory Place. His parents John Manning 1841 & Mary Kendrick 1838 both born in Ireland. It seems Thomas was the youngest of six children 3 girls 3 boys.. In the 1881 Census we have Thomas living at 3, Victoria Rd Fulham. he is now 9yrs old and living with parents and 2 of his siblings.. We next find Thomas 1889 at the age of 18 signing for the army where he served 13 yrs in the buffs in Africa & India.. He was discharged from the army 1902, when he became a Relieving officer at Fulham Work House..He Married a Sarah Gardiner in June 1901 and had a son in August 1902 who was called Thomas Martin Manning at this time he was living at Faraday Mansions Fulham... After this we havent been able to trace him not even to trace a death for him... wondering if he went back to the army perhaps killed in action.. All so frustrating as we have put so much together of his life so it makes it very important as to how it ends.. Any info.. or tips you may be able to give will be gratefully received.
Thanking you Z.
