GLADYS COLE BORN Q4 1912 IN SEDGEFIELD COUNTY DURHAM WITH A MOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME OF CONNOR. Is there any way of seeing the electoral registers for that area at that time. I have had no luck with tree searches so far.
This is connected with the John William Cole thread as I want to eliminate him from having fathered a child with my relative Mary Ann Bass nee Connor.
I am reluctant to give up on this but understand if you are all yawning with boredom on this one. Thanks for reading this.

As there was a family rumour of a 1911 Arbour Square Stepney policeman "running off" with another woman ie Mary Ann Bass nee Connor from 25 Arbour Square, I trawled though births 1912 ... and only found one Cole birth with mother's maiden name as Connor and that was in Sedgefield Co.Durham. Strangely that child was Gladys Cole Q4 1912. Just possibly he went back to wifey - if he had ever left in the first place.

If John had no children of his own, I am not sure that it would be strange to name one of his step -daughters (who he had perhaps considered his own for fifty years) as his executor.

The fact that their deaths appear to have been in the same area is no proof that they were still married............

I have just found John William Cole in the Wills and Probate on Ancestry! (Dec.1962) His executor/administrator was a Gladys Nellie Kingsberry. Is applying for his death certificate the only way to find out who she was? He left £3,209.12s.6d a reasonable amount for a retired policeman!

Thanks to you all. The two deaths seem to be the right ones and both in Spalding Lincs so they stayed married!

You can easily look yourself for births using freebmd..........and remember to input the woman's maiden name......not the name she used when she married

However, logic dictates that she would be unlikely to have been giving birth at the age you say she was!

I am searching for descendants of John William Cole who was born In Swineshead Lincolnshire in 1880 to parents George and Emily Cole. I found him on the 1911 census with his wife Rose Georgiana Cole. She was formerly named Darnell and married John William Cole on 11 September 1909 when she became widowed. She was 12 years his senior and brought her two children Gladys and Hylda Darnell into the marriage. I wonder did they have any children together and where he subsequently lived and when he died. I have tried tree searches on here but no luck so far. Any help would be appreciated.
