Require details of occupation of Charles Smith who in 1871 was listed as follows..
1871 Census: Sub-District: Exchange, Parish: St Peter, Nottingham
Charles Smith 57 Arnold, Nottinghamshire (1814)
Mary Smith 48 Halam, Nottinghamshire (1823)
Sarah Rawson 26 Birmingham, Warwickshire - Servant

Feel sure that he died in 1877 Nottm.
Think his wife was Mary Green from Halam Notts (m.1845 Nottm)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for that GlitterBaby .
This all goes back to the results you and Dea found for me yesterday on the Probate for Mary Tatham. What we are trying to find is the maiden name of the second wife of Edmund Tatham who is listed in the 1881 census (Mary b. Halam Notts 1823)
I think the probate granted to George Samuel Green on her death gave a clue.
Found that George was b. Halam 1819 so it could be her brother.

Tathams are my relations and am trying to fill a missing link from a great website a lady has developed on Old Ilkeston

Hello AnnCardiff

Yes the Edmund on this 1881 census was the nephew of Edmund I am referring to.
The family all originated in Ilkeston Derbys. and were involved in the Needle and Lacemaking Trade.

Thanks for your interest.
