I'm not sure if this is the death of Stella's husband:

Registration event: Death

Name: BROWN, Cyril Ashby
Date of death: 4 October 1952
Age: 44
Place of death: At Sea
Place of birth: Hull
Belonging to service:
Ship's name: Norman
Series: BT334 - Registers and Indexes of Births, Marriages and Deaths of Passengers and Seamen at Sea
Box: 0110
Page: 2

The image states he lived 8 Holborn Street, Witham, Hull. He was a cook. He was drowned, body recovered.

This link gives info about the wrecking of the Norman 19 men died.
http://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?167007

The thing that gives me doubts is this probate:

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966
Name: Cyril Ashby Brown
Probate Date: 28 Apr 1958
Death Date: 4 Oct 1952
Death Place: Kingston Upon Hull
Registry: Yorkshire, England

The address is the same as on the death record and states he died at sea but the widow is Sarah .......

pm from Alana, she's wanting to research his siblings and the name Brown is difficult to research.

It looks like Stella stayed around the Yorkshire area:

England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2007

Name: Stella Dorothea Brown
Birth Date: 15 Apr 1907
Date of Registration: Mar 1994
Age at Death: 86
Registration District: Goole
Inferred County: Lincolnshire, Yorkshire
Register Number: 30D
District and Subdistrict: 5471
Entry number: 98

They married 1940

England & Wales, Marriage Index, 1916-2005

Name: Stella D Purcell
Spouse : Cyril A Brown
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1940
Registration District: Hull
Inferred County: Yorkshire East Riding
Volume Number: 9d
Page Number: 440

EDIT: I see Mike had posted this above.

I'm not seeing any births in the Yorkshire area for the surname combinations although there are numerous births outside the area.

You could always buy her death certificate to see who the informant was.

Hello Alana, don't mind looking for more info if you could be more specific about what you're trying to find out and what background info you already have.

There are numerous trees on Ancestry that have attributed this death to Henry Vincent Purcell:

England & Wales, Death Index, 1916-2007
Name: Henry V Purcell
Birth Date: abt 1880
Date of Registration: Jun 1964
Age at Death: 84
Registration District: Kettering
Inferred County: Northamptonshire

I'm pretty sure that they are all wrong and have just picked the nearest birth that fits and then all copied the wrong info off each other.

From the newspaper archives:

Headline: DIED AT SEA.
Publication:Hull Daily Mail
Publication date:Friday 08 February 1924

HULL TRAWLER BRINGS HOME THE SKIPPERS BODY
A well-known Hull skipper, Henry Vincent Purcell, has died suddenly at sea, and his vessel, the Montano, owned by the Hull Northern Steam Fishing Company, has returned to Hull with the body on board.

Skipper Purcell, who was 44 years of age, lived at 3, Canopia Avenue, Hessleroad.

He was taken ill when the Monatano was fishing off the Faroe Islands. The vessel was taken into Thorsaven, with a view to obtaining medical aid, but it was too late to save the skippers life.

It's easier to help if you say what you wish to know.

We don't then use time looking for that which you don't need.....or already know
