I have all that information. My grandfather Paul Blanchard, was Algernons son. My mum was 16 and was with him when he died, but he didnt talk much about his father, who was Edward. Algernon said his father was a sea captain, and Algernon went with him sometimes on his boat. Apparently Edward died when Algernon was a young boy, and left his mother Maria Butt quite a sum of money. They went back to England, and Algernon spent a year at a Uni in Paris. Algernon told his children they were French and Spanish, and Blanchard dna backs that up. I cannot find where Edward came from, and thought if I could get Edwards death cert or Algernons birth cert that would give me more info. There were 2 Edward Blanchards who were seamen who died in the 1860's but do not believe they were him. |

Given that Maria and her son were in England by 1871, do you think this might be Edward's death, at sea: |

Not sure why you have marked your request as answered? (Ticking that indicates the whole thread has been sorted, not just that particular post responded to). |

Possibly Edward's arrival in NSW, as crew? |

Perhaps Edward & Maria were not married? And the child's birth not registered? |

I had wondered about that, I dont know where to look for a will in Australia, but found a copy of Marias will in England. I have been stuck now for a few years, and asked my brother who was in London to look at the National Archives in Kew, but he couldnt or didnt know where to look for information on the Edward Blanchard who came over on the Euroclydon. Those records arent accessible yet online. |
