I would imagine that place is a retirement home of somesort as there are quite a few residents

It could be that they dropped out of the electoral roll listing after that

Just found an Irene L Maughan on 192.com on the electoral register in East Sussex but it is for 2002. Does anyone have access to an up to date electoral record please. It shows other people living with her so wondering if it could be a care home. However, the likelihood of Irene still being alive is sadly very, very slim.

Yes, Argylgran, it could be a possibility that Irene was put up for adoption as her sister Joyce (who I was previously looking for and have since found and met) was totally unaware of her existence. Rather sensitive information so I can say no more re Joyce as Joyce is still alive.

To everyone else who very kindly added to this thread, thank you for you input but I do have the info on the rest of the family. I just would like to uncover the mystery of Joyce as I can't find a marriage or death. It would appear adoption is a very strong possibility. Is there anywhere I can search to find this out?

As per your previous thread which MC has linked to if Nellie married again in 1930, is it not possible that Irene had her name changed to Parks? and married as such?

Possible?
Marriages Jun 1943 (>99%)
Parks Irene L Plummer Wandsworth 1d 651

NO probably not as there is a birth for Irene Parks which matches up in London

There's also a John H Maughan, ms Rollings, born Steyning 1921. Does your friend know about him?

Perhaps Irene was put up for adoption and her name was changed?

Hello Linda, do you mean you met up with a person who would have been the sister of this Irene? If so, does the mother's maiden name on Irene Maughan's birth registration match that of the other person?

Linda

Linda Report 3 Nov 2013 16:11

Name: Irene L Maughan born Brighton 1920, birth registered in Steyning, mothers maiden name Rollings.

Found the birth (1920) but no more information, recently found and met up with a sister who is 4 years younger but was surprised to hear of this persons existence. No records to be found other than birth. Where can I look? Any pointers appreciated. I am wondering if she could have been adopted (?)
