Civil Registration in Ireland started in 1864 so may have been just a bit too late for Catherine. As you say you would probably have to look at church records. However I do think it looks more likely that she was born in Clerkenwell and it's her father who was born in Ireland. |

Thank you. Not aware of any link with name Powell or Paddington area - but I will keep these details safe just in case they fit in as there were several males named Sidney from 1920 onwards |

Could this be Catherine's death (with the name mis-spelt):- |

Catherine also gives her birthplace as London in the 1911 census:- |

There were no penalties for not registering a birth until 1875 so for the period between 1837 when registration began and 1875 many births were simply not registered and if this is the case with Catherine then there won't be a birth certificate to find. |

The family definitely lived in Clerkenwell and Holborn. Her parents were John and (Ithink) Louisa). Slightly different spelling of names - but definately well worth pursuing. I need to get access to Irish records I think. Thanks for your help. |

I have been searching in vain for months for the birth and death records of Catherine Craddock - later known by married name of Catherinae or Kate Sabini. |
