There are 2 William Skeltons born Gringley about the same time.
If you think this is your family, you need the one married to Mary (the other is married to an Ann).

So - what makes you think it's the wrong one? And do you have John on any other census?
If possible, I would get a marriage cert for John if you are still unsure.
