I am trying to find the whereabouts of my Biggins family in 1851. They are John Biggins b. 1825, his wife Rebecca b.1829 nee Boyle on marriage certificate but was born Boleyn (father Caesar Boleyn chair manufacturer) and their son James Biggins b.1847. John and Rebecca were married on the 14th April 1845 in Sheffield Cathedral his occupation was shown as Cutler. His father was James Biggins, filesmith. At the time of their marriage in 1845 they both lived in Pond Street, Sheffield. Son James was baptised at St Georges Church, Sheffield on the 2nd March 1857 (aged 10 years) and the address given then was West John Lane, Sheffield. I can't even find a birth registered for James in 1847, they had a son John Caesar Biggins b.March 1846, died May 1846 and he was registered, but can't find anything for James. James died in 1928 aged 80 years, so the birth date is correct. |

I can't see any of them either Wendy. Rebecca isn't with Henry Cooper, or her family either for that matter. |

I have no idea if this is relevant or not - wrong occ for James, if we toy with the idea of him being John's father for a moment, in that he is a cutler rather than a filesmith. Such a common occupation in Sheffield unfortunately! |

Apologies, what was I thinking - he seems to be unmarried! Der. But I will leave it, might be related somehow. |

Hi, thanks for all your replies so far. This last post for a baptism, don't know how I've managed to miss this one. The name was often spelled without the S but on my Ecclesall Parish Registers CD it's Bigin so perhaps that's how I missed it. |
