Tracing an illegitimate birth in Paris

My great-great aunt's husband Harold Dilke - his middle name is sometimes given as Henadge, possibly a misspelling of Heneage - was born in Paris in 1881, four years after the death of his mother's husband. The date may have been February 13th, although my only source for this is a non-official document. His mother, Rosamond Fetherston Dilke (nee Dixie), was a socially prominent woman, the daughter of a baronet. Does anyone know where his birth may have been recorded? |

Thanks, Reggie, but what's FMP? (she said, showing her ignorance!) |

Not ignorance at all Julia, it shouldn't be assumed that everyone knows all of the abbreviations |

There was a huge scandal in the newspapers in 1878 when Rosamond Emily Dilkes sued Major George Fetherston Dilkes (her late husband's brother) for libel and slander. |

Julia, other than the marriage record, what info do you have to confirm that he was born Paris? |

Thanks, all! I'm fairly well-informed about Harold Dilke's later life, it's just the registration of his birth I'd like to clear up. AFAIK his marriage certificate is the only document which gives his place of birth as Paris. |

GlitterBaby, Rosamond's maiden name was Dixie - her father was Sir Alexander Dixie of Market Bosworth, Leicestershire. Again, I've researched this side of the family quite thoroughly. |

The Commune of Paris has a website where you can request a search for BMD. Unfortunately the searches start from 1903. |
