The dates of birth on death certificates are only as good as the informant....and if like Jax's grandfather he had lied....... my mum was the informant on her mum's death certificate in 1971 and she got the right date but wrong year.

My grandparents died June 1969 and their birth dates are on the index...although one is wrong as he had lied about his age from at least the time he married

Infact their deaths can be found on freebmd

The above must be a coincidence.
I assume this is the correct couple:

Marriages Sep 1913 (>99%)
Butler Walter Jackson Wisbech 3b 1339
Jackson Rose A Butler Wisbech 3b 1339

There's a Walter Butler on a tree on Ancestry which says his birth date was 1st Jan, 1885. (No proof given.)
It says he married Rose A Beresford in Fremantle, Australia in 1910.

Is that the same person, or is it just a coincidence that the names fit?

(EDIT: NO, that DOB must be only a default date, as Rose's DOB is given as 1st Jan 1890. That would be a coincidence too far!)

Late 1969 saw the introduction of DOB's on death certs........along with birthplace - and maiden name of married women

No it won't birth dates aren't included on the GRO ref till c1975

Edit 1969 earlier than I thought !

My dad died in 1975 and his dob is on the GRO record

The only way to confirm his birth date is to get a copy of his birth cert.

The record shows he was 59 at death, so born c1882
