Think you mean the 1841 census and it's the workhouse not workshop

If his parents were with him them they should show too.

Other than that have you found him on later census or dies he name a father on his marriage cert

The records office at Rochester do hold workhouse records .

In the 1941 census my gt gt grandfather Peter Rice B1836, was in the Medway union Workshop, Rochester ( St Nicholas ) at the age of 4. Would the workshop records have the names of his mother & father and how can I find those records. Thanks Warren Rice
