FreeBMD has none with mother's maiden name Charleton but there is one spelled Charlton but it's in 1956.

Actually it is spelled Charlton on marriage record:

My apologies Margee

MargaretM Report 27 Oct 2013 16:30

No apology necessary, Tom, it was worth it to be called a lady by our Gins. Although my dear Mom would say " You're not a lady, you 'aven't got a feather in your 'at"

Hi Margee
The reason for my posting the above is that my mother, my young brother and my
self were evacuated during the bombing of WW2 from London to Gosforth.
We actually stayed at John and Ethels home for maybe a year, we again visited
them around 1948 and they a had a little girl of about 6 or 7 then, I don't know if she was their child, the old memory is not so good these days!!!
I was wondering if I could find out who she was.

So thanks for all your help

Kind regards

Tom

I don't know how to help, Tom. There's no McPeake birth with mother's maiden name Charleton or Charlton that matches. Of course Ethel might have had a different maiden name if she was previously married and married with her first married name. You don't happen to remember the little girl's name, do you?

The little girl may have been adopted.

Or simply a relative of some description who happened to be staying with them

Hi Folks

Margee
Many thanks for your time and your help that you have so kindly given.

Reggie
Thanks for your help also, as to your last question, the answer is yes ! !
In fact that's where I first found a picture of John McPeake, it was on Ancestry
I think ! also I have some photos of John and Ethel.

PS Ethel's surname is Charlton I spelt it wrongly !

Kind regards

Tom
