Find Ancestors

I have been trying to find any information on my great-great grandfather Andrew Kay. All I know is he had a son Thomas Kay (my great-grandfather) born in 1876 though I can not find where. Thomas was a sailor on steamships and died in Liverpool around 1910, give or take a few years. Thomas Kay married in 1900 in Liverpool, with a Mary Merchant (born 16/10/1879 in Liverpool).
Any leads welcomed ...

Dear all - I have only just a few days ago begun on genes reunited so I apologise for not replying sooner. I didn't have a clue what buttons to press etc. I have been given advice now so hopefully I can start getting to grips with the site - WOW - I didn't expect any information at all.
