1881 census has William Joseph Chapman ( B.1861 Silverstone Northamptonshire) living with his parents George and Hannah Chapman and his brother George. I can not find him in shipping records, he obtained mining and land rights in Coramba New South Wales in 1889 to 1896. He married in Adelaide in 1893 then took his new bride back to Coramba and had his first child there. I would be very grateful if some one would please do a search in Shipping Passengers for me. He must have left some time after 1881 as he was not in the 1891 England census. He may have came out with a brother Charles Chapman who was a couple of years older. Regards Lorri. :-) |

Thank you Alviegal for your reply, Charles I believe was William J Chapman's half brother, George Chapman was a widower when he married Hannah Summers in 1856. I have not been able to find any details yet of George's (b.abt 1808) first marriage. I think Charles may have been born early 1850's. |

Reggie thank you for your reply, I was afraid that may have been the case. Incoming passenger list to Australia a very vague. |

Is this them? The son is John not Charles. I take it Charles was George's son. |

Lorri, how do you know about Charles please? Were there other siblings? Perhaps we could try to find out the name of George's first wife. |

William Joseph Chapman named his first son after his brother Charles William Chapman. Williams first child was born in Coramba N.S.W. Australia in 1893. |
