How to find which Mary John married.I have Catherine Elliott baptised in Sheffield Cathedral 26 July 1818 along with quite a few others with parents John and Mary.Catherine is definately mine and i have her on census.she married Charles Jessop 4 Sept 1836.John Elliott was a cutler when Catherine was married.in 1841 he was either in the workhouse (dates out by 4 years and no Mary) or he was living with Joseph Elliott in Young street, both spring knife cutters. It could have been Mary Birtles marrieds John Elliott 14.2.1803 sheffield or Mary Davison 15.3.1808.My cousin even went to Sheffield archives and found nothing.
Any ideas please!!

So did John have a son Joseph born approx 1807?

Joseph from Young Street in 1841 seems to stick to that year of birth and his occupation remains the same.

I would doubt it was Mary Birtles as this child was baptised the same year,

Name: Abraham Birtles Elliott

Birth Date: 02 May 1807

However he may have been baptised late?? Possible looking at the parish records would confirm an age?

EDIT, silly me he was born in 1807, I would hazard a guess that your John didn't marry Mary Birtles.
