Not 100% convinced about the marriage but I am very happy with the christening especially with what Ozbird has found. Hoping that the Parish registers will give parents names. For some reason I have Ann Thacker in my head but not 100% sure about that either

Actually , I stand corrected about "ann Thacker" - it was in fact Caroline Thacker who married married someone else in my family.

Do you think John Thorpe's wife Ann could actually be Mary Ann?

John is described as a widower in the 1851 census but the only likely death for his wife is this one:-

I have not yet researched the death of Ann Thorpe. the only thing we currently have is that "Ann" was her given name in the 1841 Census with John being her husband and William b1836 being her son.

All those are very positive and I have some of them already. I am currently not sure about the one at St Marin's with all the others being at St Margaret's. I will however keep that one in mind as the research continues.

Good News. I have just received a FULL transcript of Births, Marriages, Baptism and Burials for St Margarets - all 1387 pages of it! - that will keep me amused for a while ;-)

The earliest "Thorpe" I can find is 1615
