JoonieCloonie, they were in Melbourne, Victoria, and it's quite possible that Walter emigrated again, I had been wondering if that might be the case, also he might have joined the military. I've got credits on FMP, I'll have a look.

Victoria BMDs show 1 birth, 1 marriage and 4 deaths for the name Walter Wray.
Could be worth the 99 cents to check out the list.

Searching at trove finds a large quantity of material about a long-time criminal named Frank Ellis alias Walter Wray, who was eventually shot dead in an attempted burglary in 1930. Not our man! On a quick skim of results, I only saw a reference to an 1861 performance by the Little Nightingales.
