Ann and Margaret can't be the same person, although I realise the father's name is correct. Margaret was already married and with John Sharples in 1881 - so couldn't be with her parents. |

Have you seen the 1911 census image for Annie and her 4 living children (3 more have died)? Interesting note on the image. |

I thought it was John Patrick Sharples, registered 1890 in Formby - lancashirebmd gave mmn as Martin, and he is recorded as John P in 1891 |

The Ann Martin did match with age, right father name. Both her parents were Thomas & Margaret, could only find one child for them both, so that's a match. BUT I cannot find 'my' Margaret with the name Ann, maybe as a middle name? A lot dropped first names in favour of middle, but this I cannot tie in. |

Margaret Ellen (1885) was a domestic servant and moved down to Altrincham (Bucklow) her elder sister Annie (1881) was here and she married a Nash in Bucklow and had 10 children. In 1901 census she was with her first born Lucy Nash 1yr old in Southport. Their other sibling John G Sharples (1891) I cannot find. |

Who did you ggmother marry, when & where - I'm not having much luck in finding them in 1901. Think Margaret Ellen (1885) is a boarder, but I can't find the rest of the family. |

I think this is the 1881 census you are considering: |

The same family of Martins were in Toxteth Park on the 1861 census - John/Margaret, with Thomas, Catherine, Margaret, Betsy & Annie. Son Thomas is unmarried so I don't really think they can be connected. |

After PM from cheekychops, looking at this census - I'm posting it to try to make some sense of it - but I don't see how it's connected Margaret is not of the right age. This is the ancestry transcript: |

Thanks for your added information. It does match some of the information I have about the Sharples line. Their daughter Annie was my GG Grandmother lol. |

I think this is John/Margaret in 1911, although their ages are out and it states Margaret born Liverpool. However, it was the head's mother who filled in the census return so she may not have known their proper details: |

This is the only church record I can see for Margaret Martin, using search terms dob 1859 +- 5 years, with father Thomas Martin, in co Laois. Queens county was renamed Laois in 1922 following independance. |
