Well, after having searched for ages on the 1841 I tried to find that address of Praed Street from Henry Valentine Thompsons 1842 marriage!
I couldn't find it but found an 1841 directory of the area - Praed street was there but not the Thompsons !
Having a list of people from the directory who lived there at that time I searched the census for these but could not find any of them.
Looks like that is the reason we can't find them - the returns for that area (Paddington) are missing !!
1841 Census - missing pieces
668 Middlesex Parish: St Luke West Finsbury Golden-Lane Old Street Whitecross-Street
680 Parish: Paddington *******
+ others - edited !
Well, at least I can stop searching now with a clear conscience although it is still very frustrating !!! :-(

Thanks Fairy Godmother. I will go back to scouring the 1841 census.Neither Christopher nor Emily Priscilla are very common names so as I said before the problem in finding them is most likely a surname spelling error. Wendy

Thank you all who tried to help.As I said I was looking for a miracle which was not to be.I had traced this family plus marriages, children etc on all but the 1841 census. In all probability the surname has been misspelled but I have tried so many possible spellings without success. Regards Wendy

Hi.Thank you Henry Valentine's marriage is correct. Christopher's son was a chairmaker but I think Mary Ann Thompson must be his wife. His sister was born in 1815.Didn't the 1841 census take the age down rather than up? I was hoping to find Christopher (1792) and his daughter Emily Priscilla in 1841 so I will keep on looking.I know where she was in 1851.She became Emily Priscilla Spraggon according to census entries but again I can't find a marriage for them. Henry Valentine Thompson married in 1842, district of Paddington and on his marriage record he is noted as being a French Polisher and living (what looks like) Raid Road. His father, Christopher Thompson has occupation as Undertaker.
As this is just the year after 1841 census likely they are noted on census with these occupations and perhaps living same address?

One assumes that the first HENRY died.........................please confirm

Hi Please can anyone help me find Christopher Thompson on the 1841 census.I have searched for hours for him and his unmarried children in1841 but with no result. Children were Christopher 1813,Mary Ann 1815,Henry Thomas 1820,Henry Valentine 1823,Emily Priscilla 1828 and George James 1831.All in St Marylebone I have found Christopher and his sons Christopher and George on the 1851 census living in St Marylebone.
