I have considered the possibility that she didn't die. I've come across quite a few skeletons in the Wiseman cupboard! I think they led quite "colourful lives"....Her husband died in 1863 so I would have thought she'd turn up with one or other of her children on the 1871 census if she was still alive.

Consider also that she may not have died.........she may have left her husband, and he was too ashamed to admit it, so decided to say he was widowed

Have you considered the possibility that she did not die in Birmingham and therefore her death may have been registered elsewhere?
Maybe she died somewhere else but was buried in Birmingham?

I'll check whether Warstone Lane Cemetery is anywhere near where they lived.

Thank you. The 1857 one looks as though it may be the one I'm looking for. The 1853 with the partial name is a possibility too.

Have you looked for a death using freebmd?

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

Bear in mind that age at death is not on the index before the late 1860's

I'm looking for a date of death for Sarah Wiseman nee Bishop baptised 1810 in Wigmore, Herefordshire. She married James Wiseman and lived in Birmingham. She is on the 1851 census but James is widowed in 1861 census. Any help gratefully received. :-)
