I am having trouble finding my ancester on 1911 census, I think maybe he was in the British Army, possibly in Colchester Barracks, is there any way I can search the 1911 census for the Army

Loads of different ways to search

Search for Barracks

Or use christian name and occupation of soldier or private

Etc, etc

Potty, yes it's my tree on Ancestry, I have his birth, marriage and death certificates, but have not found him on any census. His service record must have been one of the burnt records. Thanks for looking everyone, good to know no-one else can find anything! He went missing after WW1 but through my tree I have finally found his family and now have a photo of him, it pays never to give up.
