Marriage: William Lewis & Jane, Angle, Pemb.,1815

Victor Report 22 Sep 2013 15:15

I would most grateful for help in finding the marriage of William LEWIS to a lady named Jane, supposedly in the village of Angle, Pembrokeshire, (but possibly in Milford) around 1815.

Between about 1816 and 1833, this couple produced a family of about seven children, including my G-G-grandmother, Jane LEWIS.

Any help would be very welcome.

Many thanks.

Victor

Many thanks for this info, Maddie. It sounds very plausible.

William LEWIS was a Mariner, and other members of the family lived in the Steynton area of Milford.

Their couple's first daughter, Elizabeth, was born on 16th October 1816, and baptised on 9th November 1816 at The Tabernacle, Milford. Later children, including my G-G-Grandmother, were baptised at St Mary's Church, Angle, Pembrokeshire.

I am very grateful for this help.

Best Wishes,

Victor.

a pleasure :-)

Victor Report 23 Sep 2013 11:08

It now appears from Ann's comprehensive findings (and also from some of my own earlier observations) that two couples named 'William and Jane Lewis' married around 1815 and produced offspring in the subsequent decade or so! The one couple lived in Milford (Steynton) and the other lived across the water in the village of Angle!

The 'William and Jane Lewis' branch of my family appear to be the Angle branch, my ancestor George REES marrying Jane LEWIS (i.e. the daughter of William (a Mariner) and Jane) at St Mary's Church, Angle, on 28th November 1840.

This raises the question of the surname of the Angle lady named Jane who married William LEWIS (the Mariner), supposedly of Angle.

Most puzzling!
Kind regards
Victor
