In the 1871 and 1881 census on Findmydpast the name of the street in Portsea is transcribed as Wish Court rather than Wich Court.

I was hoping she might be living with her mother in Wich Court Portsea in 1871 .
but dont have FMP for address look up

Should I edit the heading to look for her there or would that be a new search


There are about 7 houses in Wich Court in 1881 but no one that fits Kates DOB ECT .

I havent sent for her birth certificate yet , I ve bought so many just lately .

But she is Katy Courtney on the Free BMD SITE

I was thinking the same as you , so if she was born before her mother got married ,,, there will be no name for the father .

I ll just have to send for another mrg cert .

This happened to me 2 wks ago and no name for father on birth cert and stepfathers name on mrg cert .

I cant find any Courtneys that could be her mother in 1861 ,Portsea .RECORDS

Do you have her birth certificate? If so was her father named on the certificate? I was thinking that she may have been born before her mother married and then took on her step-father's name in the census but married using her "proper" surname.

This is just a thought as I have seen this happen before.

Yes Kate mrd Wlm Gardner though he is known as Albert Wlm .

I have'nt sent for the mrg cert yet .

I have ancestry but can find no trace of a Katy/Kate Courtney in 1971/81 censuse

On 1911 census , birthplace is Wich Court Portsea .

Any help finding Kate in 1871/81 . would be greatly appreciated .
