I used a credit on Scotlandspeople to look at Alexander births with the middle name Adams buy there is no Jeanie or variation of it coming up. |

This may be the Jeannie that Shirley found in 1911: |

I wonder if a trip to the Goole library would help find when William & Ann settled in Goole? They hold the Almanacks from 1908-1940 and are in name order, and some trade directories. They also hold the electoral rolls, so it could be worth a look at the address on Mary's birth certificate. |

Thanks Flip, we have their address, we dont know when they moved there but once there, they remained until death. We checked the 1911 census and they were not there then so obviously moved some time between then and Jeanies birth, will pass it on, as far vitising Goole, he is most certainly within driving distance, might suggest that to him. |

I would have thought Jeannie was born at the latest 1912 - otherwise wouldn't she have been a bit young to have gone to London, got a job, & returned to have Mary? Have you considered she may have been called Jeanie Adams, and assumed the name Alexander when her mother married? |
