George Wakefield Death

I have looked for Catherine but without knowing her place of birth it is difficult, and likewise, not been able to find her with her father's details. However, there is a POSSIBLE death for her in Chorlton District also based only on age. So, not sure.

Any other suggestions?

The informant's details may give you the answer

Or look for Catherine in 1881...........see whether she is a widow

Peter, the parish records I posted are from FindMyPast.

You hadn't previously stated when your George died (now given as 1896) so you need to look on FreeBMD http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ for potential deaths for the other one - bear in mind he was in Lancashire in 1871.

Does this help finding the other George Wakefield's death?

Peter

Peter Report 19 Sep 2013 21:52

Ah thank you for this.

Ok, George Wakefield (1846-1896), is my ggg grandfather and he married both Martha Royal and Harriet Thompson. He was the son of George Wakefield (1813-1880).

I am confident his is my ancestor as Harriet is widowed in both 1901 and 1911, and he was buried from his address which is where his daughter married from in 1892.

Also, where did you get the information on the marriage for George to Catherine Goodwill from?

Thank you for this help!

Peter, just to clarify - is your George the one who is also son of George? When/where did that one die?

I think this is the 1871 for the George (son of Peter):

CROMPTON, James M 42 1829 Cheshire
WAKEFIELD, George M 27 1844 CheshireRuncorn

Piece: 3965 Folio: 27 Page: 48
Registration District: Barton upon Irwell
Civil Parish: Worsley

Address: Leander, Worsley County: Lancashire

They are actually on a boat and he is listed as being a Hand which ties in with Waterman. Recorded as married.

Peter Report 19 Sep 2013 17:04

HI there,

I am looking for the death of a very distant relative of mine. He was born George Wakefield in Runcorn, Cheshire in 1846. His parents were Peter and Elizabeth Wakefield. Peter Wakefield (1807-1872).

I am wanting to find out about George as my direct ancestor, as a distant cousin of his, was another George Wakefield, born in Runcorn in 1846.

My ancestor George (1846-1896) married Martha Royal in 1864; he was soon widowed and married Harriet Thompson in 1866, having numerous children but only two reaching adult age. George seems to have lived his entire life in Runcorn, Cheshire.

I hope this information can differentiate the two.

Best wishes,

Peter
