Thanks for that folks. I have him going on Queen Elizabeth in 1958 with Alice, but always thought this was later than my gran made out. Maybe it was a return after a visit.

He was an Iron Dresser, next of kin in England was wife Ethel at Oldham Road, Ashton under Lyne.
He was going to his brother William Skitt, 284 East Fort Street, Mount Vernon, New York.

Thanks for all the help on Henry. Turns out he was quite a character. My aunt remembers the trip home in the 1950's and how they couldn't wait to get rid of him, as 'everything is so much bigger and better in America.'
:-) Does anyone have any info on William though who went in 1908? I've found his passage and one for his wife Ellen. They went to Mount Vernon New York and passage was paid by William's brother in law Samuel ?Carter? From then on all I can find is that Henry went to stay with him on arrival in the states. He arrived with $15 would be nice to think he made a success of things out there. Bless you Debbie
