So really we weren't looking for an Irish marriage at all.

You knew the forenames of the couple, so why didn't you post them?

Looked at marriage and it is his wife who is the link Owen Lafferty/Rafferty and Mary Mulherron

Where did the family live please? Where was George John Mulheron recorded as cousin of George Fay?

Because a child born with the surname Fay and has a cousin Mulheron doesn't mean for sure that George Fay's mother was a Mulheron.

We would need a little more info such as first names to look for marriages but is this the family for ref please????????????????

One of the children was a George he was on Scotland 1901 with George John Mulherron down as a cousin
