There's no mention of a Mary Jane Timmins so perhaps it's a different Thomas Slade?

Found the article - too long to transcribe in entirety.

Basically, Thomas Slade was an Ironworker in the employ of Captain Bennitt at Oldbury. He had married his first wife Eliza Smith in 1851 at Hucclegate, Gloucester and they had 3 children. He was with her until 1863 when he left her (by all accounts she was drunk and violent).

He took lodgings with a Joseph Turton and passed himself off as Joseph Lane, a widower. On 17 June 1864 he bigamously married Eliza Birt at Aston Church. His first wife Eliza got wind of this and brought charges.

This is coming up on the newspaper archives:

Headline: DISTRICT NEWS.
Publication:Birmingham Daily Post
Publication date:Wednesday 05 October 1864

Article text:"Rlagnal, Thomas Slade, an iron. worker, in the employ of Captain Bannitt, at Oldbnry, was brought up on remaudfrora Went Bromwich, cnarged with having, on the 27Gh of June, 1864, at Aaton Church, Intermarried with EliZa Birt, his lawful wife being still"

Am having trouble finding the actual article but will persevere ....

Could you explain in slightly greater detail where you found this abbreviation, or could you post a link to it?
Thank-you

Can anyone help please

OI have found one of my ancestors Mary Jane Timmins married Thomas Slade West Bromwich. Looking through the records I found he was charged with Bigamy and appeared on a record titled 'Winter Gaol Delivery 1 December 1864'

In the column titled Whipping prison etc. there is an abbreviated entry- '1 cabr Mo:
Can anyone tell me what this record entry means?

Help appreciated David Timmins
