David Report 4 Sep 2013 22:00

I am trying to find out what happened to my great uncle David Midgley. He was born in West Yorkshire in 1878 and I believe he emigrated to the States in 1910. I know no more than this at this stage but wonderd if anyone can advise how I can find out more about him.

On the 1910 arrival in PA, he says he has previously been in the USA from 1901. He is actually returning home to 3144 Arizona Street, Phil, PA.

His next of kin in England is his mother Mrs Midgley at 37 or 87 Lightcliffe Street, Brighouse.

David, if he's your great uncle then presumably the brother of a grandparent? Can you tell us more about that family so we can be sure we have the right man?

EDIT: On the 1901 posted above the street address is 37 Lightcliffe Street so the same man.

He crossed the Atlantic a few times:

New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957

He was a mason, which matches the 1901. Looks like he was headed to Buffalo.

On the 1907 New York arrival (posted above) he says he's headed to his frien Mr W Robert at 3321 Haggart St, PA. That ties with this:

Residence Place: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Occupation: Driver

All the information about David Midgley ties in. He was born in Brighouse, West Yorkshire - the son of Jeremiah and Mary Midgley.
I wonder what happened to him after he arrived in the States - I cannot find any record of him after the 1910 USA census, nor does he appear on the 1911 England Census.
