Hi;
I am a Gover and found that a lot of my Gover`s worked in the Clay works I have information on a 1881 list of workers who all lived in Corfe Castel first name is Stockleys : George. james. john . all live in west street. Diffey: ann , william East street. Gover : George, Henry, John, all lived in East and West street. I have a cutting of a fatal accident of William George Stockley in 1943 who worked for Pike Brothers (Wareham ) he was killed by a fall of Clay witness by William Charles White .his father William, George, Stockley of 3 sunnyside, Ridge, Wareham gave evidence of identification of his Son.
My fist Gover to be recorded who worked in the Clay pits was Joseph ,Gover born 1766 Corfe Castel. Would love to know if Gover`s still live in Dorset please get in contact with me Regards: Steve Gover
