Sorry, just tickled my sense of humour, no offence meant. How may greats should you post in front of the Uncle, Peter?

Ah thank you - so this is a British Regiment serving overseas in Canada?

And no, literally just working forward from his baptism ... this and his baptism are all I know about him. I have looked on the census but nothing really jumping out ... can anyone do a search for him?

No-one can categorically state that is the 'same person', but it seems feasible

Have you any other evidence of his having been in the Army?

The 82nd Regiment served in Canada at different times in the early 1800's.

Hi there,

Just found this for a possible uncle of mine (Samuel Thompson baptised in Frodsham, Cheshire in 1781). I have found this on ancestry but not really sure what it is:

Canada, British Regimental Registers of Service, 1756-1900 about Samuel Thompson
Name: Samuel Thompson
Age: 25
Birth Date: abt 1783
Birth Place: Frodsham Bridge, Chester
Military Date: 16 Jan 1808
Unit: 82nd Foot Soldiers, 2nd Battalion

Can anyone explain?! Is this the same person?!

Thanks,

Peter
