Early in on in your research they can be a help but then they soon become a pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The funniest thing was I stopped building my tree on here when they brought in the new tree. I hated it then and I still hate it now. For reference purposes only, I got my husband to create an account and imported my tree from Ancestry which was much more comprehensive to him. And now every month I get hundreds of matches with him ;-)

All such messages are computer-generated, and are not filtered.

Waste of time in my opinion........much better to look for info yourself in 'search all trees'

I blocked so-called hot matches within days of joining the site.................

I´ve supposedly got about 16 from various dates over the last 18 months.
Not one I haven´t already been in contact with.
Think the problem is that when people add to their tree & the ancestor is linked to someone in your tree, Genes ignore the fact that you have had previous contact & exchanged all the info

How comes i receive an email from GR informing me that they have found one of my ancestors on 13 members tree's, Wow, so i clicked on excitedly,
Only to find i had previous contact with them all !!!!
