Well blow me down with a feather. Many thanks for explaining those District, page & volume bits n bobs. Certificate ordered through GRO. Couldn't believe the prices some sites charged.
The geneology fog has somewhat cleared.

You do not need exact date of death to purchase the death certificate.

As with Greta's details that is all you need. Order from the GRO

Thank you for such a swift responce. I found John's death in the index, but not sure how to find the exact date of death to enable me to purchase his death certificate.

Have you tried searching trees on here to see if any of his siblings are in the trees?

Looks like he may have been the eldest of a big family.

I'm trying to find any information on my late Father, John Race.
The son of Greta & Jack Race, John was born in Bishop Auckland Co Durham 14 April 1937. Died 1982 in Mansfield hospital Nottinghamshire.
Any information would be gratefully appreciated.
