Thanks for the replies, if he was illegitimate does this mean the end of my search or can information (as in a the father) be found for a legitimate child? |

If his mother's name is on the christening record but not his father's then he is most definitely illegitimate. |

Hi, have really hit brick wall with this one :-(, and any help or advise would be greatly appreciated :-). Here is what I know: John Pierpont ( there is different spellings of the surname) born 1816 in South Muskham, Nottinghamshire. He married Elizabeth smith (born 1817 in east Leake). They had 9 children. John's mother was Elizabeth but I am struggling to find anymore information as in fathers name. I have tried church records etc but can come up with nothing. Thanks Mark |
