A tree on FamilySearch gives this info re Robert's father James

Baptism: 8 February 1791 Mountsorrel, Leicestershire
James enlisted in the 39th Foot at Hastings on the 1st April 1809 at the
age of 19 for unlimited service.
His birthplace is given as Mountsorrel, Leicestershire.
He was discharged 1st August 1826 due to Chronic Rheumatism and
Constitution broken up in service.
His description, given at discharge said he is about 36, 5ft 7 inches
tall, Brown hair, grey eyes, Fresh complexion, and by trade a
Stocking Weaver.
He was granted a pension of 9d a day.
He was not found in Army pension books as he was in hospital on the 30th
August 1826 when the Examination of Invalid Soldiers took place (Ref ,
KEW PRO WO116/36)
